At it's October 2005 Public Information Meeting at the Clark County Government Center, almost 100 people attended comprised of residents, homeowners and business owners, as well as the Las Vegas media. The meeting was part of an ongoing series of meetings PROJECT NEON is conducting to provide information and gather input from the community.
At the meeting, an open forum was held to view exhibits and discuss a variety of issues, including property impacts, property acquisition and a project construction schedule. The meeting gave attendees the opportunity to provide comments and feedback.
Three alternatives currently being studied were on display and are currently available to download off this web site. Two of the alternatives will be studied as part of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) anticipated to be completed in early 2007.

To help clarify PROJECT NEON's study process a single alternative was displayed at the February 2005 Public Information Meeting. Considering the large scale and expenditure of public funds for the potential freeway and street improvements that comprise PROJECT NEON, the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), conducted a week long workshop to provide an outside look at the potential solutions currently being proposed. The workshop attendees were comprised of transportation professionals through out the nation. The recommendations from the workshops focused on options to modify the current alternative to reduce community impacts and consideration of a larger alternative that may enhance traffic operations and in turn reduce congestion.
Over that past few months, PROJECT NEON's Team of professionals have been evaluating these new possible solutions and weighing the advantages and disadvantages of each, with a successful outcome being a solution that addresses the needs for this vital link in the Las Vegas Valley's transportation network. These alternatives were displayed for public comment at the October 19th meeting. PROJECT NEON's Team of Professionals will be moving forward with environmental studies and evaluating the alternatives in line with the National Environmental Policy Act, commonly referred to as NEPA.
